Kantrida Swimming Pools
the KANTRIDA SWIMMING POOLS is a highly functional, state-of-the-art complex. It offers a wide range of facilities, catering for the needs of sportsmen, amateur swimmers and other citizens. Built on the very beachfront in the western part of Rijeka, it boasts a magnificent view of the Kvarner islands and towns of Opatija and Rijeka. Most of hotels in Rijeka and Opatija are located within 15 minutes distance by public bus. Rentals of a 25- or 50-meter lane, of the entire Olympic pool for swimming competitions or water polo games, of the gym, of one of the two conference rooms, the sunbathing platform or of the piazza can be arranged. Free wireless internet access is available throughout the facility.
Olympic Pool 1 (an indoor pool) At 25 x 50 x 2.20m (a 10-lane 50-meter pool), this pool meets all standards for major competitions. Its special feature is a retractable roof. During the summer months, the roof remains open and the pool becomes an outdoor pool, enabling the visitors to enjoy the splendid view of the Kvarner Bay. Depending on the season, the pool can be divided into two smaller 25m pools, which is one of its greatest advantages as it allows separate renting of the swimming lanes.
Olympic Pool 2 (an outdoor pool) At 22 x 50 x 2m (an 8-lane 50-meter pool), this pool is used for training by athletes during the spring and summer months, when the pool dome covering it throughout the winter is taken off. A 50-meter lane is available for rental throughout the entire year.
The 25-Meter Swimming Pool at 10 x 25 x 1.25m (a 4-lane 25-meter pool) and the Children’s Swimming Pool, 10 x 5 x 0.70m in size, are both used for the training of non-swimmers and swimmers with disabilities.
Diving Pool, 20 x 25 x 5m in size, is used for diving and synchronized swimming. Due to its depth, this pool is also used for scuba diving. The dimensions of the pool, diving platforms and boards are in line with the technical guidelines of the International Swimming Federation (FINA). The walls of the pool are equipped with underwater loudspeakers and windows for dive watching.
