Sailing in Pula
our partner for sailing is the sailing club VEGA Pula. The Sailing Club Vega Pula is a club with a long and affluent tradition. It was founded in August 14, 1886, under the name Boating Club Pietas Julia on the main naval port of Austria-Hungary monarchy. It consisted of water sports – sailing and rowing. That was first established civic club that attends to sailing in Pula, which is a sport suitable for the city, due to its perfect natural harbor and shelter for boats that came into this port with the purpose of bringing people and goods for shelter from storms. This love for the sea and sailing continued during both World Wars and continued after the retreat of the Anglo-American management. After the departure of some club members to Italy, the remaining members changed the name of the club and formally founded the sailing club Vega. Under this name it conducted bussines until 1954, when Vega integrated to Yugoslavian navy club J.RAKOVAC, which was founded in 1953 and became the sailing club Mornar. Under this name we functioned and competed until August of 1992, when the club changed it name back to VEGA.
We are especcially proud of the results of the regattas that VEGA organizes which include:
-Regatta “St.Nicholas”, which is held around December 6th
-Regatta “Spring Cup”, which is held during the Easter holidays
-Regatta „Cervia – Pula“ – Cervia (co. organizers)
