CLIMATE IN ISTRIA

Istria is on the 45th parallel, precisely halfway from the North Pole to the equator. The Istrian peninsula has a mild Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and mild winters. Average insolation is 2,388 sunny hours a year. Typical winds are jugo (warm wind bringing rain), bora (brings clear weather) and mistral (blows landward in summer, bringing chillier weather). The sea temperature ranges between 9°C in March and 24°C in August, and average salinity is 37‰.
